These two cozy cabañas are located in the laid-back coastal village of Punta del Diablo, on Uruguay’s northeastern Atlantic coast. Built in 2013 on a 5,650sqft centrally located lot, they feature simple but solid timber-frame construction and were designed as basic vacation rentals.
Punta del Diablo is one of Uruguay’s most beloved travel destinations – and for good reason. This former fishing village has preserved its relaxed and slightly bohemian charm, offering visitors a unique blend of wild nature, artistic individuality, and an unhurried lifestyle. At the same time, a growing number of small cafés, restaurants, and artisan shops have established a vibrant yet unpretentious local scene.
With its expansive Atlantic beaches, rustic setting, and casual atmosphere, Punta del Diablo draws not only sunseekers but also surfers, nature lovers, and those simply looking to enjoy fresh ocean air, untouched landscapes, and a slower pace of life far from crowds and commercial tourism.
The area is also popular for its proximity to protected natural sites such as the 7,400-acre Santa Teresa National Park and the wetlands of the Laguna Negra – the latter being ideal for hiking, birdwatching, or horseback riding. These attractions draw visitors from all over the country, from Argentina, and naturally also from Brazil – after all, the border to the large neighboring country is only 25 miles away.
Despite its remote feel, Punta del Diablo is easy to reach via the fully paved National Route 9, which provides direct access to the Brazilian border in just 30 minutes, the departmental capital of Rocha in about 1.5 hours, and Punta del Este in 3 hours.
The two cabañas are about two-thirds of a mile from both the beach and the village center, making them well-positioned for short-term rental.
The front cabaña offers 380sqft of interior space, with a combined living and dining area, an open fireplace, an integrated kitchen, one bedroom, and one bathroom. A partially covered terrace with a separate outdoor grill adds to the charm. It could also very well be used year-round thanks to the fireplace and split air conditioning unit.
The second cabaña is of similar size but more minimal in layout, featuring a single open room that serves as both living and sleeping space, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a small covered veranda.
These modest but charming cabins are attractive as a rental investment, while also being well suited for personal use combined with short-term letting through platforms like Airbnb.
