Just 12 miles north of Punta del Este, located in the idyllic rolling hills of Abra del Perdomo, this beautiful and impressive chacra (rural estate) offers all of the advantages of a quiet, relaxed country life, without sacrificing access to the amenities and infrastructure of the nearby coast.
San Carlos, the nearest large town, is just a 10-minute drive away, and offers a variety of shops, schools and good medical care. Maldonado and Punta del Este, with their marvelous beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and the Río de la Plata, can be easily reached in half an hour. Montevideo International Airport is a 60-minute drive away.
The buildings on the chacra were constructed in 2009 under German management. The quality of construction and equipment are above average. During the construction of the buildings and outdoor areas, special emphasis was placed on the ideal orientation with regard to the position of the sun and the main wind directions, as well as achieving a high degree of energy efficiency.
The main building has a total of 2,475 square feet of floor space and is divided into two separate houses, which are united by a large central reception room.
The main house encompasses a bright spacious living room with a somewhat spatially separated library and a large fireplace, a dining room with an integrated, fully equipped kitchen with a work island, a utility room and pantry, and the 600-square-feet master suite, with a walk-in closet, a spacious spa-style bathroom equipped with a shower and a separate built-in bathtub, and access to the grounds, the terrace and the outdoor pool.
In a separate wing of the main house, also accessible from the central reception room, there is a guest room with a bathroom, as well as a laundry room and an additional bathroom.
The rooms in the main house are equipped with underfloor heating. In addition, when desired, the above-mentioned fireplace creates a comfortable ambiance, thanks to its highly efficient central location. The modern, straightforward and open architectural style is combined with lovely details such as, for example, numerous mosaics built into the natural stone floor.
In the other house there is a 700-square-feet guest apartment with a living/dining room, integrated kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, a small staff apartment (280 square feet) with a living room, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom, and a 355-square-feet garage.
Special mention should be given to the beautifully landscaped central outdoor area, with terraces on different levels, a pool, a sundeck and a covered outdoor barbecue, which comprise the heart of the complex. In designing the layout of the buildings around this outdoor area, special care was taken to ensure that each of the various residential units has its own private and sheltered area.
The large expanses of surrounding pastures, a covered stable and two ponds offer the ideal conditions for small-scale livestock raising. The beautiful location, the high level of comfort of the complex and the layout and equipment of the residential units also allow for the operation of a bed and breakfast or country hotel with nothing further needed.
