Beautiful colonial-style villa with large grounds
This wonderful villa, built in 1920, was restored and renovated some 20 years ago. The original floor tiles were preserved, as well as the high-quality stucco, the mahogany double doors with valuable etched glass, and many other beautiful details.
The villa has a total of 2,690 square feet of living space, distributed over two floors. There is also an attic that could be expanded, if desired.
The ceilings are between 13 and 15 feet high on both floors. The ground floor encompasses a spacious entrance hall, the living/dining room with fireplace and beautiful crown mouldings, an office, a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with large dressing room, which could alternatively be used as a nursery, and a bathroom.
Upstairs there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as two large sun decks.
As for the exterior, at the front of the house there is a lovely entrance with columns and two antique marble benches, while at the back there is a shady terrace with a large grill. Also on the grounds are a double garage, a workshop with a boiler room and storage areas.
The lot has a total area of around 6.4 acres and is fully fenced. The park-like garden with beautiful older trees, palms, shrubs and plants is well maintained. Part of the lot is forested with eucalyptus trees.
Nueva Helvecia is a small town with barely 10,000 inhabitants, located around 75 mi west of Montevideo and 40 mi east of Colonia del Sacramento, which is a one-hour ferry ride away from Buenos Aires. The miles-long stretches of sandy beach along the Rio de la Plata can be reached by car in just 15 minutes.
