The house on this 250-acres ranch (known as an “estancia” in Spanish) was built in colonial style in 2005, on the remains of an old estate.
The rooms – the living room, the dining room with an adjacent large country kitchen, a total of five bedrooms and three bathrooms – are laid out in a classic U-shaped design around a sheltered, green inner courtyard facing the north, the sunniest side, with a wrap-around veranda and various entrances.
From the comfortable, shaded seating areas on the veranda, the view takes in the beautiful, well-tended grounds, the surrounding land with its native flora (e.g. ombú and coronilla trees), and the vast, gently rolling countryside.
A lake measuring around 3.7 acres was created 650 feet from the house, and is fed by a waterway that crosses the property. On its shore, a small wooden gondola with a jetty invites you to sit back and relax, swim, or take short boat rides.
The lush pastureland is ideal for cattle farming. The necessary installations are in place, as well as a barn with a shed and a chicken coop.
There is a separate house available for staff, with a kitchen/dining room, bedroom and bathroom, which could also be used as a guest house, if desired.
The property is just a 15-minute drive from Mariscala. This small town (around 1,600 inhabitants) offers rather good infrastructure, with all the necessary shops to meet your daily needs and medical care. Minas, the closest larger town, is 50 miles away, Punta del Este is 80 miles away, and Montevideo is 120 miles away.
