German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle met with his Uruguayan counterpart Luis Almagro in Berlin. During their meeting they discussed bilateral and international issues. The ministers signed a social security cooperation agreement, under which workers sent from one country to the other will only be required to contribute to one social insurance system. They also pledged to improve bilateral trade and economic relations. According to Westerwelle, Uruguay is a reliable partner and a country of great importance in a global region of growth.
