Tags: , ,

Unknown perpetrators stole three hard disks, numerous files and a small amount of cash from the offices of the team of researchers assigned to searching for the remains of individuals who were “disappeared” during the military dictatorship in Uruguay (1973-1985). In addition to the theft, the intruders marked the location of the homes of some of the research team members on maps in the office.

The Truth and Justice Commission, which is overseeing the research, reported that all of the stolen data could be recovered because backup copies had been made.
