The Uruguayan airline Alas Uruguay is making its final flight and immediately ceasing all of its operations. The government had already decided months ago not to provide further financial support to rescue the airline. Alas Uruguay was founded at the beginning of the year by former employees of the national airline Pluna, which had gone into bankruptcy in 2009. At its inception, Alas Uruguay received state aid in the form of a credit of USD 15 million. However, it was denied a second loan of USD 6 million.
