A new social security cooperation agreement between Germany and Uruguay has entered into force. The agreement benefits retirees and workers from both countries, and offers future retirement advantages for anyone who has worked in Germany and Uruguay. Among other things, from now on it is possible to fulfil the necessary period of service for retirement insurance in both countries, in order to qualify for pension benefits. In addition, it increases the possibility of receiving a pension in both countries. An application for a pension in Uruguay will be simultaneously valid as an application for a German pension and vice versa. The payment in the other country will be free of restrictions.
