According to a comparative study conducted by the consulting firm Mercer, Montevideo is the Latin American city with the highest quality of life. The capital cities of Venezuela (Caracas) and Cuba (Havana) were the lowest ranked in Latin America. The study assesses quality of life according to 39 criteria from the point of view of employees sent from abroad to work in the cities evaluated. These criteria include, among others, political, social, economic and environmental factors. Other factors considered include personal safety, health, education and transportation, as well as other public services. The results of the study are an important source of information for governments and international companies that send employees to work abroad.
